Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is an environmental rating system developed by the USGBC for the construction, design and operation of sustainable commercial buildings.
All Johnsonite flooring products play a role in one way or another to four LEED credit categories:
- Materials and Resources
- Indoor Environmental Quality
- Energy and Atmosphere and
- Innovation and Design.
Please click on the LEED Matrix links, to the right, for specific information.
Please keep in mind that the Materials and Resource and Energy and Atmosphere credits are based mainly on the cost of the material or cost on energy saved and relative percentage that those materials contribute to the overall budget of the project. For example, on the entire building, floor covering is only a fraction of the cost of the materials, therefore, calculating recycled content of floor covering does not necessarily have a significant impact in LEED calculations.
**No single product can obtain a LEED credit. Products can in aggregate, contribute to attaining credits.
Please call our Technical Department at 800-899-8916 to assist in completing your specific LEED questions in a prompt manner.
Indoor air quality is an important issue because most people spend as much as 90% of their time indoors at home, work, or school. Poor indoor air quality can be caused by a number of factors, including inadequate ventilation, poor cleaning, and excessive emissions of volatile organic compounds.
Johnsonite rubber flooring and extruded rubber and vinyl products are centrally located to 66% of the top 10 metro areas. Our facilities are located in Middlefield and Chagrin Falls, Ohio and Waterloo, Ontario.
